![]() ![]() ![]() In September 2012, I purchased a Sigma 120-300/2.8 DG OS telephoto zoom. Quality of service is critically important. Our camera equipment follows the same pattern. When I get a car, I interview the Service Department because I will see those folks for years and more often that the sales professional. So if you're curious, you may want to go ahead and give Sigma Service a call. When we make purchases, we all tend to spend a lot of time concerned about the price of acquisition and the buying experience. However, when he called Sigma to inquire about the repair, Sigma gave him very detailed information on what they had done. Update: Site visitor Don let me know he had a similar experience - a fairly quick turnaround with no formal communication. And at any time, I can also check the status of my repair on their website.īut when the crickets are chirping, you can rest assured knowing your item is very likely being repaired and returned in a timely manner. Then they send a shipment notice with tracking information when my item leaves their service facility. They send me an email when they begin processing my repair. When I send an item into Canon Service, I get an email showing that they received the item. A recent "rush" repair order to Canon Professional Services took longer.īut Canon's Repair Service trumps Sigma's in a big area - communication. Considering that they received my lens on the 24th and had it back in my hands on the 30th suggests that Sigma has invested a significant amount of resources in making service and repair orders a priority. On the one hand, Sigma's turnaround time was fast - very fast, in fact. The paperwork with the lens suggested that a circuit board had been replaced and the firmware had been updated by the Service Center. Before I gave them a call, however, a FedEx truck arrived with an unexpected package – my lens. On October 30, I had an entry in my calendar to give Sigma a call and ask for a status on my lens repair. Sigma never sent me a return shipment notice. There was no way for me to check the status of my repair online (that I could find). They never sent me an email to let me know they were processing my repair. Sigma never sent me an email to confirm that they had received my lens (I got the delivery confirmation from FedEx). The Issue of Communication (or lack thereof) On October 22 I packed up the lens (including the appropriate repair forms with contact and warranty information) and shipped it to Sigma's Repair Center in Ronkonkoma, New York. Sigma's technical support adviced me to send the lens in for repair. After several failed attempts at getting the firmware update to stick, I called Sigma's technical support. ![]() And every time I chose to "update" the firmware, the autofocus adjustments were reset to "0."įor some reason, the lens was reporting that it had the original stock firmware installed. If I chose not to update the firmware, Optimization Pro would make the focus adjustments button inactive. Every time I would connect the lens to the USB Dock, the software would insist on upgrading the lens's firmware. Even though my lens had been updated with the newest firmware a month earlier, Sigma Optimization Pro was insisting that my lens wasn't up to date. Sigma had not just released a firmware update. I thought to myself, "What a coincidence that Sigma would release a lens firmware update during the hour I'm adjusting this lens." After about four cycles of adjusting values and focus testing, I connected the lens to the USB dock and Sigma's Optimization Pro software told me there was a firmware update for the lens. ![]() I made several different focus adjustments and tested the lens after each one. On October 21, I was using the Sigma USB Dock to dial in focus adjstments on my 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens.

![]() ![]() It lets you ignore an increasing amount of arcane spell failure percentage combine with Mithral (and possibly Feycraft) and eventually you should be able to wear full plate and still cast reliably. It might be worth taking some levels of Spellsword (Complete Warrior) on the Wizard side. The rules suggest also barring BAB/Spell progression classes like Eldritch Knight, which seems unnecessarily harsh to me, especially if the other side of the Gestalt is already a full BAB class. Dual-progression classes like Mystic Theurge (and Jade Phoenix Mage- it progresses maneuvers and spells, right?) also usually aren't allowed in gestalt, in order to avoid classes that end up looking like Cleric caster 30/Wizard caster 20 or similar. Factotum *is* awesome, but 8 levels is more than a dip that'd be better for a skillmonkey design. If you decide you want to go with the Unarmed Swordsage on one side, choose maneuvers that are not stat dependent and/or have out-of-combat utility (like the shadow teleportation line or things that boost stats and movement ability) and put emphasis on the other side of the build.Well, if we're going to get into crazy multiclassing, then Factotum's awfully tempting too.įactotum 8/Swashbuckler 3/Warblade 9//Wizard 5/Swiftblade 10/Jade Phoenix Mage 5 anyone?I wouldn't drop that much Warblade. If you really want to Gestalt 2 ToB classes, Warlade and Crusader will be the least MAD, but it'll still be messy. Totemist: CON stat based melee enhancements would favor a melee build, Totemist opens up 24 hour buffs most other melee classes envy, so feel free to be the envy of others. A fourth gestalt suggestion for a melee character would be: The three above suggestions only require an investment in INT stat, which would synergize well with a Warblade. Archivist: the Intelligent man's divine caster, it's as useful as a Wizard with access to divine spells. Buff and Battlefield control spells will enhance your melee ability. ![]() ![]() ![]() Wizard: Key your list of spells to round out and support your other class. Factotum: Inspiration points can be used for abilities in the other class (such as gaining an extra standard action and avoiding dying), the small amount of arcane spells can be used for buffs and other supplemental options, and you've got skillpoints to invest in whatever you want. There are a few classes I'd recommend to use as the flip side of any Gestalt build: It sounds like you really want emphasis on the Tome of Battle class, So why not pick one and whatever other class you choose, have it supplement the ToB class? Please leave me your suggestions, as I'm open to any of them. Another thought would be to switch out Swordsage with Duskblade for more Ability synergy, but I really like the whole "ultimate Martial Artist who can kill you 100 different ways with his pinky," and I won't be able to channel the duskblade spells into my maneuvers anyway (Waaaaay too powerful and quite possibly broken).įinally, if I decide to still go WB/UASS route and focus my ability scores for one of my classes, such as Warblade, will that ultimately hurt my character? I've thought about running a Cleric/Crusader Gestalt, then advancing as a Ruby Knight V(W)indicator, but I'm already playing an RKV in my current D&D campaign. The rules for the build are as follows: No multi-classing unless the new class we are trying to gain is a PrC, and we can only prestige once, non-negotiable. However, the problem I'm running into is that this class is extremely MAD (might be worse than the Monk.) Ability scores will either be the standard high-powered roll of 4d6 drop lowest and reroll all 1s, or 32 point buy, depending on the DM running it. My first thought was to do a Warblade/UASwordsage character build, which looks good on paper (good BAB, all three excellent saves, all the maneuvers I can dream of with two pools and access to 8 of the 9 schools). So, as the title suggests, I'm trying to build a gestalt character for a game taking place soon, and I'd like to focus on one (or two) of the three ToB classes. ![]() ![]() ![]() However, before setting your resolution to 4K, make sure that you’re using a compatible 4K monitor, or else you might experience some problems with the size of the UI elements in BlueStacks, which can actually make it harder to use.
